To Subscribe to the Carteret Arts Forum 2013-2014

It is especially exhilarating to sit in an intimate venue and experience a professional performance of any kind.

Each performance in the Carteret Arts Forum subscription series is only $30.00 per show. I know of no other place where you can find that kind of quality for such a low price.

A year's subscription for family or friends would be a wonderful gift for any occasion.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you this coming year!

cavaniCavani String Quartet

Saturday, January 25, 2014             8:00 pm
The History Place, Morehead City

String Quartet

The Quartet comprises 4 women playing 2 violins, a viola and a cello. The Quartet has established itself as a dynamic leader in the field of arts in education, and they will do area workshops in January and April. Their performances have been described as “powerful and poetic… an example of the special joy musicians exude when minds and instruments connect on the highest level.”  In Cleveland, Ohio they gave the audience one seamless superb ensemble performance and  ”held the audience spellbound” as The Cleveland Plain Dealer said. The Los Angeles Times noted, “their playing was superb.”  The New York Times saw them as “warmly lyrical, (and their efforts producing) a monolithic performance.”  As Musical America says, “This is what real chamber music is all about.”  The Carteret Arts Forum is happy to have partnered with The American Music Festival to bring The Cavani String Quartet to Carteret County.

rosalynRoslyn Kind

Thursday, March 13, 2014   7:30 pm
Dunes Club, Atlantic Beach

Cabaret singer

Roslyn Kind is the younger sister of megastar Barbra Streisand, but this lifelong entertainer stands firmly on her own. In fact, the only reminders of her sister are in her voice, with its sudden bursts of a Brooklyn accent when something excites her, and the similar qualities of their vocal instrument. This finely tuned entertainer, who has been performing since a teenager in the late 1960s, hasn’t needed her sister’s name to get her where she’s been, and she’s been everywhere.

An acclaimed singer, songwriter, Broadway star, television and movie actress, Roslyn has performed at the best of the best, including the Ed Sullivan Show and Carnegie Hall. “I like to take the audience on a journey of their emotions. I also love to joke a lot, to entertain,” she said. Her fun and easy nature certainly comes through. Her performance will not soon be forgotten.

5:00 pm
Coral Bay Club,
Atlantic Beach

Lecturer - THE RISE AND FALL OF F. SCOTT FITZGERALD

Perhaps the most popular speaker to ever visit Carteret County, Dr. Elliot Engel returns with an equally important topic—The Rise and Fall of F. Scott Fitzgerald--that is sure to please, inform, dazzle and totally entertain this season’s audience.  Most will recall Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby that has been a Hollywood movie subject four times (1926, 1949, 1974 & 2000) with a new film coming to theatres in 2013.  Engel’s treatment of Fitzgerald, one of the twentieth century’s most talented and important writers, is spectacular, filled with much humor, sadness, joy and penetrating insight.
